Spastic hand could be caused by stroke, traumatic brain injury, or cerebral palsy, leading to long-term disability. To reconstruct the function of spastic hand via kinds of surgeries is gradually recognized and valued globally. Many hand surgeons have made efforts in this area, and these work are urgently needed by a super large number of patients with spastic hands.
Since the first publication of our trial study using contralateral seventh cervical nerve transfer to treat spastic hand in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2018, so far this procedure has been applied in Asia, North America, South America, and Europe, benefiting over thousands of patients worldwide.
